RESEARCH ASSISTANT/FELLOW £16,775 - £18,731 per annum
Aberdeen is part of an IRC (Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration) in Advanced Knowledge Technologies to be funded by the EPSRC for 6 years (2000-2006). Applications are now invited for persons to work primarily on the following technical challenges: reuse of knowledge bases and ontologies; knowledge refinement and maintenance of knowledge bases.
One post is being offered at the Lectureship level, as a permanent appointment. You will work almost full-time on the AKT project for the first 3 years (including some teaching duties), and will then transfer to a standard Lectureship within the Department. Alternatively, this post could be held as a Research Fellowship for 3 years, in the first instance. The second post is for a Research Assistant/Fellow for 3 years in the first instance, working full time on AKT.
For both posts you should have either an Undergraduate degree in Computing Science or a related discipline. For the Lectureship a PhD in a relevant AI/Cognitive Science subarea or industrial experience is expected.
