CNET is looking for a top technical manager to lead our Data Warehouse Team. This position offers the opportunity for a skilled leader to have a direct impact on CNET's continued success and growth as the leading technology information provider on the Internet.
The Director of Data Warehousing is responsible for the management of the Data Warehousing team. This group builds, deploys, and operates the systems that track web site usage. The group also builds data marts, sources product and pricing data, and develops reports for CNET executives, sales and marketing, and site developers. The director is responsible for ensuring that the systems being built meet business needs, are delivered in a timely fashion, are of high quality, and are being administered and supported adequately.
This role requires the ability to work successfully with business stakeholders, manage expectations and produce results. Candidates should possess strong management skills and a solid understanding of web technologies, databases, data warehousing, and UNIX system development. The director also participates in the requirements analysis of new features and with his or her team, shapes the architecture of CNET's critical information systems.
Candidates must have a B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; a minimun of 3-5 years of management experience in a database or data warehouse environment; a strong understanding of software engineering and the software development process; understanding of UNIX systems; technical understanding of Internet technologies (HTTP, CGI, Java, etc.); demonstrated leadership skills; the proven ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels; the ability to discern and understand business goals; deliver products and results that meet business needs in a timely fashion.
This is a regular full time position. We are not looking for a contractor, consultant or consulting firm. CNET is located in San Francisco and offers a very competitive compensation package including stock options, a complete benefits package and generous paid time off.
