"TRAIN-IT": A new EC support-measure for ESPRIT/IST participants free of charge
Dear ESPRIT or / and IST participant,
Please accept this e-mail to inform you about a new entrepreneurial
support offer by the EC. TRAIN-IT was created to help technologists like
you to start your own business. The TRAIN-IT accompanying measure is
providing a proven concept to turn your idea into a business plan, which
will win investors.
The TRAIN-IT offer --- for free to ESPRIT/IST participants:
- 6day crash course
- up to 12 months follow-up
General information:
IZET Innovationszentrum Itzehoe, Germany, is happy to announce that our project
TRAIN-IT was restarted as an Accompanying Measure in the IST Programme,
after completing its very successful piloting phase 1997-1999.
IST Business: TRAIN-IT is geared towards (future) entrepreneurs who plan
to start-up a business in Information Society Technology. For participants
of finished or ongoing IST projects, the course is free of charge.
TRAIN-IT offers a six-day hands-on crash-course on how to write an
investor winning business plan. Courses are held in our modern training
facilities. The course concept, which was optimised and proven in the
piloting project, effectively combines the following modules to kick-start
an investor winning business:
1 Business plan basics
2 Lectures by internationally renowned experts - experienced and successful
entrepreneurs, economists, venture capitalists, bankers, lawyers - on
the main chapters of the business plan:
market research and analysis, competitive analysis, venture capital,
due diligence, IPR and patent issues, marketing and sales
3 Individual coaching sessions with guest experts and IZET experts
4 Business plan writing sessions at individual work places with
state-of-the-art computer equipment
5 Training and video analysis of the elevator pitch, the foundation stone
of the business plan
In addition, we offer individual follow-up support up until completion of
the business plan, as well as a password-protected Internet forum for the
use of TRAIN-IT participants only. A yearly TRAIN-IT community event will
be held to present successes and to maintain the entrepreneurial momentum.
Recent highlights of the TRAIN-IT success story: TRAIN-IT graduates MINEit
and Sympalog were awarded the IST grand prize and the IST prize,
respectively, at the IST 2000 Exhibition in Nice, France. In order to
continue our friendly relations and collaborational synergies, we invite
our graduates to take part in TRAIN-IT courses as lecturers and expert
advisors. We are proud and happy to say that MINEit have entered a
permanent partnership with TRAIN-IT.
The first TRAIN-IT course of the new generation was successfully held
November 26 - December 2, 2000. In the next three years, we will offer 15
TRAIN-IT courses at an average rate of five courses per year. We plan to
have 10 business cases per course and expect 1-3 persons as the founding
team, aiming at a participant number which is comfortable for the
crash-course situation.
For 2001, we have the following course dates lined up:
February 11 - 17
May 27 - June 2
July 15 - 21
September 9 - 15
December 2 - 8
IST-Business: TRAIN-IT is conducted by IZET Innovationszentrum Itzehoe,
metropolitan area of Hamburg, Germany. IZET is an awarded "good practice"
incubator and international centre for entrepreneurship and technology.
