CALL FOR PAPERS SOFT COMPUTING JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE ON COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS Guest Editors A. V. Vasilakos, W. Pedrycz Scope The recent years have witnessed a rapid and unprecedented progress in the realm of telecommunications systems. It is needless to say that with the increase of complexity of the systems, the growing needs for their flexibility, fault-tolerance, higher quality of service and alike, there is a genuine demand for new development technologies that are capable of coping with these important design challenges. Computational Intelligence (CI) as being viewed as a synergy of technologies of granular computing (especially fuzzy sets), neural networks and evolutionary computing has become an ideal design vehicle supporting the design of intelligent systems. In this capacity, the role of CI in the development of the telecommunications architectures is profound. The main objective of this special issue of the Soft Computing Journal is to act as a channel that brings the ideas of CI to the telecommunications area in a systematic, coherent and comprehensive fashion. Authors are encouraged to submit original papers dealing with various theoretical and applied issues dealing with Computational Intelligence in telecommunications networks. An entire spectrum of topics is sought such as IP, ATM Networks,Multimedia,Wireless and Mobile Networks,Active Networks,Satellite Networks. Important deadlines Submission: 1 September 2000 Acceptance decision: 30 December 2000 Final paper due: 31 January 2001 Publication date: March 2001 Submissions The final submission date is September 1, 2000. Authors are required to send 5 (five) copies of the complete manuscript (hardcopy), following the templates available from the publisher, see ftp: //ftp.springer.de/pub/Word/ , to the Guest Editor at the following address Prof. Athanasios Vasilakos P.O Box 65251 15410 Psychiko,Greece or send an e-mail to the Guest Editor (vasilako@ath.forthnet.gr) giving a URL from where a postcript or PDF file can be downloaded.
