     Call for Papers, Demonstrations, Workshops and Tutorials



     The PACT'96 conference and exhibition is a premier forum for Constraint applications
     and systems. Now in its second year the conference builds on the success of PACT'95, and
     clearly demonstrates the benefits of constraints for solving real-world problems. It will
     focus on the industrial exploitation of Constraint Programming, and explore the
     realisable benefits for business, and future trends for this important technology. 

     Constraint technology is perhaps unique in its speed of development. Industry has been
     very quick to adopt the technology and apply it with great success. Yet the pace of
     research in this area is dramatic, and new ideas and techniques are continually emerging
     to further enhance the potential of constraint technology. The time lag between research,
     development and industrial application is very short. 

     In consequence the Practical Applications of Constraint Technology is both a good
     opportunity to appreciate the breadth of applications of the technology, and a chance to
     share new developments in the field and how to make use of those developments in
     practice. 


Call for Papers

     We invite you to submit a paper or industrial report describing fielded applications in the
     areas of constraint programming. Papers can be any length, and on any topic. Note that
     since these conferences are aimed at demonstrating the benefits of the technology for
     industry and commerce, preference will be given to papers which describe fielded
     applications. 

     Papers for PACT'96 should be submitted by November 17th 1995. Authors of successful
     submissions will be notified by the end of December. 

     FIVE copies of papers should be submitted. 

     Please include a short abstract and a covering page containing full contact details,
     including postal and email addresses, telephone and fax numbers.

     Call for Demonstrations, Workshops and Tutorials

     The conference also provides an opportunity for software vendors and developers to
     demonstrate Constraint systems. You are invited to contact the organiser to arrange for
     your application to be exhibited at the event. If you would like to organise a workshop or
     tutorial, or wish to see a particular topic covered, please contact the organiser. 


     Programme Committee

     Chaired by Mark Wallace from ICL, the Programme Committee is drawn worldwide
     from industry leaders including AT&T, British Telecommunications, Renault, IBM, ICL,
     Siemens, XeroxPARC, and first rate universities and research organisations.
