JURIX 2000 Call for Papers Call for Demonstrations Thirteenth Annual International Conference on Legal Knowledge-Based Systems December 14-15, 2000 Twente University Enschede, the Netherlands Papers (and demonstrations, see below) are invited on research on information technology for the legal domain, and in particular on legal knowledge systems. Typical topics are: o the study of (artificial) legal reasoning and inference, e.g. - case based reasoning - deontic or normative reasoning - model based legal reasoning o representation of legal knowledge in intelligent systems (e.g. logics, ontologies) o knowledge systems that support: - legal decision making, - legal drafting - legal knowledge discovery, - legal teaching o storage and retrieval of legal information o application of machine learning in law o legal theoretical foundations for legal knowledge systems o verification and validation of legal knowledge systems o knowledge acquisition for legal knowledge systems o methodology for constructing legal knowledge systems Important dates (all 2000): submission of abstract: 1 August (optional) submission of paper: 1 October notification of acceptance: 21 October final paper: 10 November Papers should not exceed 5000 words.
