CALL FOR PAPERS IR'2001 - INFOTECH OULU INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON INFORMATION RETRIEVAL SEPTEMBER 19-21, 2001 in OULU, FINLAND http://www.ir2001.oulu.fi The goal of the IR'2001 workshop is to provide an international forum for presenting recent research results on information retrieval, and to bring together experts from both 'soft' and 'hard' information retrieval for a fruitful exchange of ideas and discussion on future challenges. The program includes invited presentations and tutorials by leading experts and contributed papers describing recent progress in information retrieval. The papers presented in the workshop will be published in the workshop proceedings, which will be offered to international publishers. Best Paper and Best Student Paper awards will be awarded for outstanding contributions. Oulu with its many public and private research institutes and rapidly growing high-technology industry is a world-famous 'silicon valley' in Northern Finland, situated not far from the Arctic Circle. University of Oulu, the workshop venue, is Finland's second largest university. Social program includes a free full-day trip to beautiful Oulanka National Park right at the Russian border. Authors should submit their papers electronically, either in PDF or Postscript format, via the workshop web site. Submitted papers will go through blind review by at least two independent referees. Therefore, authors should not include their names and affiliations in the manuscript. Also, authors are encouraged to exclude revealing citations to their own publications, if by any means possible. All accepted papers whose author confirms participation by early registration deadline, will be published in the workshop proceedings under an ISBN code. The proceedings will be available at the workshop. The proceedings will be offered to international publishers after the workshop.
