ICCBR-2001 Workshop on CBR in E-commerce Vancouver BC, July 31, 2001 Call for Papers Electronic commerce is the process of electronically buying and selling goods, services and information, and the maintenance of all the relationships, both personal and organizational, required for an electronic marketplace to function. CBR systems have achieved significant practical success in customer support and help desk operations -- critical e-commerce functions. More recently, product search, recommendation and configuration have been the target of research and commercial activity. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers from industry and academia who are applying case-based reasoning to all aspects of e-commerce. We hope to identify new emerging areas of CBR application within e-commerce, as well as facilitate the exchange of ideas. Topics of interest include: Auctions Brokering/Negotiation Catalog search Configurator systems Customer relationship management Customer support Data mining Knowledge management for e-commerce Marketing Recommender systems/Collaborative filtering Sales strategies / Sales dialogs Supply chain management User Profiling Sessions Emerging applications (10:15 - 12 noon) Papers for this session will be those that propose new technologies and new applications for CBR in e-commerce. Six 10 minute presentations each followed by 5 minutes of questions 15 minutes of discussion at the end of the session Posters and Demos (1:00-2:30 pm) The poster session will showcase existing and emerging applications. Presenters are encouraged, but not required to demonstrate their systems. Business issues (2:45-4:15 pm) Panel discussion in which panelists discuss their experiences and the business issues involved in creating and deploying CBR systems in e-commerce. Attendance is limited to 35 participants. Participants of the Workshop will be required to register for the main ICCBR conference. We request two categories of paper submission: Research papers: Reports on innovative technologies and applications of CBR in electronic commerce. (8 pages maximum) Applications: Reports on deployed or prototype systems and experiences. (3 pages maximum) Submissions should be made in electronic form, postscript or pdf (preferred) in AAAI format. Authors are encouraged to use the macros for AAAI's double-column format (8-1/2 x 11).
