Knowledge Management by Case-Based Reasoning: Experience Management as Reuse of Knowledge (GWCBR 2001) Workshop at WM 2001, Baden-Baden (http://wm2001.aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de/) (First German conference on Knowledge Management - Experiences and Visions) Final Call for Papers --------------------- ( An online version of this call is accessible at http://wwwagr.informatik.uni-kl.de/~gwcbr/cfp.html ) Recent research tendencies show that Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) technology is increasingly employed for problems from the area of Knowledge Management (KM). Thus, Knowledge Management opens itself as an application area for CBR of high current interest. Certain problems from KM have already been successfully addressed by using CBR technology, such as product experience bases, help desk systems, and user profiling and product recommendations for E-Commerce. However, Knowledge Management offers more fields for the employment of Case-Based Reasoning techniques that require more fundamental research. Some of these fields have been in the focus of recent research activities including Interactive Knowledge Management, maintenance of experience (i.e. cases), and suitable knowledge representations (e.g. textual CBR). With the background of this development the workshop is intended to establish an interdisciplinary discussion platform. It should cast light on the mutual competencies and needs of the two research areas. This is the 9th workshop in the course of the annual German Workshop on Case-Based Reasoning (GWCBR). It is co-located with WM 2001 to support current research directions of both CBR an KM. Topics for Contributions ------------------------ We appreciate submissions from both areas of CBR and KM. However, contributions explicitly addressing both points of view are preferred. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: - Applications of CBR for KM (Best Practices, Lessons Learned, etc.) - Embedding CBR-based tools in business processes - Just-in-time retrieval and just-in-time knowledge capturing - Querying techniques - Reuse of Knowledge and Experience - Knowledge Representation for CBR and KM - Transformation of knowledge representations for queries and cases - Textual CBR - Limitations of CBR for KM Submission Format and Procedure ------------------------------- Submissions may have a maximum length of 12 A4 pages.
