The main two-day conference (December 14th-15th) will comprise - Two parallel streams (technical and application) of refereed papers on all aspects of the field including technical stream papers on learning, knowledge discovery, case-based reasoning, knowledge engineering, and knowledge representation and refinement, and application stream papers featuring a wide range of AI techniques, including CBR, fuzzy logic, rule based systems, neural networks, data mining and intelligent agents. - Keynote addresses by Prof. Yorick Wilks (University of Sheffield, UK) and Dr. Chris Winter (Cyberlife Technology Ltd.) - An exhibition of AI tools and software and presentations by suppliers A special feature of this year's conference is a presentation of his prize-winning IJCAI Computers and Thought lecture by Prof. Nick Jennings (Queen Mary and Westfield College, London). This was first presented at the IJCAI conference in Stockholm in September 1999 and is the first time that any European has won this prestigious international award. The two-day conference is preceded (on Monday December 13th) by a day of tutorials and other events, comprising: - A full-day tutorial on Intelligent Virtual Environments and Virtual Agents - A half-day tutorial on Knowledge Bases for Ill-structured Knowledge - A low-cost full-day workshop on Using AI to Enable Knowledge Management - A full-day event on Practical Application of Artificial Intelligence sponsored by the DTI Smart Software for Decision Makers initiative. This event is free to those registering for the two day conference. As always, there are substantial reductions for members of SGES (as at October 31st). For the first time these reductions are also offered to members of all other ECCAI societies throughout Europe.
