The conference will be sponsored by Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Priority Area ``Discovery Science'', in cooperation with Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, and with SIG of Data Mining, Japan Society for Software Science and Technology. Electronic submission is highly preferred. Format ------ The paper should consist of a cover page with title, authors' names, postal and e-mail addresses, an approximately 200 word summary, and a body not longer than twelve pages under the style files supplied by Springer-Verlag. The style files and authors instructions (PDF) can be obtained from the Springer's web site, where you can find the style files for LaTeX2e, LaTeX, TeX and the template for MS Word. However, authors strongly recommended to use LaTeX2e. Policy ------ Each submitted paper will be reviewed by the members of the program committee, and selected on the basis of its importance in Discovery Science from theoretical and/or practical viewpoints in addition to the originality and the clarity of presentation. Papers that have appeared in journals or other conferences are not appropriate for DS'2000. Proceedings will be published as a volume in the Lecture Notes Series in Artificial Intelligence, Springer-Verlag, and will be available at the conference. Travel Support -------------- The program committee will select best (several) papers, and the conference will cover economy class airfares of the presenters.
