CALL FOR PAPERS Fourth Australian Knowledge Acquisition Workshop (AKAW'99) Sydney, Australia December 5, 1999 http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~ghassan/akaw99.html The Fourth Australian Knowledge Acquisition Workshop will be held in conjunction with the Australian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence in December 1999. AKAW '99 is concerned with all aspects of eliciting, acquiring, modeling and managing knowledge, and with their role in the construction of knowledge-intensive systems. Knowledge acquisition directly from humans continues to be a bottleneck in the building of knowledge based systems. To alleviate this bottleneck and to provide a solution to understanding the rapidly growing volume of data this workshop includes research into machine learning and data mining. Thus, topics include (but are not restricted to): o Languages and frameworks for knowledge acquisition, modeling, and management. o Tools and techniques for knowledge acquisition, modeling, and maintenance. o Acquiring knowledge through machine learning, data-mining and knowledge discovery in databases. o Knowledge acquisition and management for enterprise modeling and corporate memories. o Methods and techniques for reuse of knowledge and knowledge models, in particular related to the construction, maintenance and use of supporting libraries. o Knowledge acquisition, modeling, and management over the Internet. o Agent-oriented approaches to knowledge acquisition, modeling, and management. o The reuse and sharing of knowledge bases. o Evaluations of knowledge acquisition, modeling, and management techniques, tools and methods. Invited Speaker --------------- Professor Takahira Yamaguchi, Shizuoka University, Japan Location -------- University of New South Wales, Sydney Paper Submission ---------------- Authors are invited to submit either four hard copies or an electronic copy of their paper.
