Description
*** Postdoctoral Fellow *** in Image-Based Data Mining at Johns Hopkins University To begin in Autumn 1999, or as soon as possible thereafter, with an initial 1 or 2 year term. Research will focus on development of novel statistical/data-mining methods for the analysis of large-scale image databases arising in the setting of stroke, normal aging, trauma, and other settings. The project embodies challenging interdisciplinary research and development at the interfaces of statistical science, computer science, and neuroscience. The appointee will work with a team of Johns Hopkins faculty researchers from the Departments of Radiology and Biostatistics and Electrical Engineering, along with clinical collaborators at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Suitable applicants will have a PhD in statistics or a related discipline (e.g., computer science with a strong statistical or Bayesian component), and interest in biomedical research. We particularly seek applicants with interest and experience in computational statistics (particularly Bayesian methods) and data analysis in complex, large-scale problems in interdisciplinary research collaborations. Prior experience in neuroscience is not required. More information on the Neuroimaging Laboratory can be obtained from http://ditzel.rad.jhu.edu, http://braid.rad.jhu.edu and http://www.nimh.nih.gov/neuroinformatics/herkov.htm.
