A pesticide usage and dosage advisory system called PRO_PLANT is currently in use at more than 400 installations in Europe and runs on farmers' home PC's. This program has been made available to QUT-MLRC for development of a new system with advanced software technology suitable for the Australian agricultural environment. The domain area will be banana plantages. The main goal of this system is to reduce the application rate and frequency of pesticides for environmentally sound plant protection by means of recommendations for the specific use of pesticides to assure constant or increased security of yield. |
