| Faculty position, University of Iowa
The Management Sciences Department of the University of Iowa is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Information Systems. The ideal candidate might be a new PhD with interests in databases, data mining, distributed systems, networking, scheduling, information retrieval, computational finance, or even computational biology. We're particularly keen to find someone with a good database background.
The department has a strong faculty with a mix of backgrounds in IS, computer science, and applied mathematics. Facilities are excellent, and the pay is quite good.
The University of Iowa has an enrollment of 28,000, of whom 6,500 are graduate students. It ranks 21st nationally in federal research and development funding (circa $135M of a total $212M external funding for FY1997), in part due to the College of Medicine, which operates the nation's largest public teaching hospital and ranks 14th among public medical schools in level of NIH funding.
Iowa City is a wonderful family-oriented location, with an excellent elementary and secondary school system.
