Knowledge Discovery in Databases : Study of the Classification Task in Geographic Information Systems
The duration of the appointment is 12 months, with a possibility of renewal for a further 12 months period. The starting dates will be decided in agreement with the selected candidate, but should be before December 2001. The positions are not open to French nationals.
PROFILE OF THE RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
The research associate should have competences in several of the following fields: Machine Learning, Data Analysis, Inductive Logic Programming, Databases, Spatial Data, Geographic Information Systems.

LIFO researchers have ongoing projects on parallelized data mining, text mining and natural language processing among others. As a result there are possibilities for local interactions on many fronts. For intensive computations and large storage capacity, a PC cluster has been installed at LIFO in early 2001. The laboratory has its own specialised library (approx. 800 mostly recent books), access to electronic libraries and to INRIA's bibliographic services. Orléans lies 110km south of Paris, has approximately the same climate, and 1/3 the housing cost. It is a city of 160 000 with its own national theater, mediatheque (multi-media city library) and modern Tramway connection to the University campus.
