Description

scientific programmer f/m

vacaturenummer 2827.2001007

The Division Mathematics & Computer Science of the Faculty of
Sciences of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is seeking to
recruit a scientific programmer for the Intelligent Interactive
Distributed Systems (IIDS) group.

The main focus of research within the IIDS group is to develop
middleware to support the design of intelligent interactive
(multi-agent) distributed systems. Scalability, security,
fault-tolerant communication, and performance of agent systems
are aspects of importance. Services such as directory services,
agent factories, but also system management support, are
necessary extensions. Intelligent interactive distributed
applications provide proof of concept. Examples of such
applications are mobile co-operative information retrieval
agents, distributed design systems, embedded internet systems.

The research setting is strong: both the AI Group and the
Computer Systems group at the VU, are renowned for their
accomplishments with well qualified researchers with whom
collaboration has already been established. The research
program has guaranteed funding from Stichting NLnet for
the coming 10 years with the requirement that all results
of this group's research are made available in the public
domain as open source.

The role of the scientific programmer is to work in close
collaboration with the researchers within this group to
acquire good, working systems.
