Description

MUCHMORE is an international research project on cross-lingual
information access in the medical domain, jointly funded by NSF and the
European Commission (fifth framework).

MUCHMORE aims to provide a framework in which at the same time existing
technologies can be integrated and refined and new technologies can be
developed. Main emphasis in the project will be on developing new ways
of using and extending concept hierarchies in cross-lingual indexing,
classification, and retrieval.

Coordination of MUCHMORE is with DFKI Language Technology (Prof. Dr. H.
Uszkoreit), further partners are: Stanford University (CSLI); Carnegie
Mellon University (Language Technologies Institute); Eurospider GmbH;
Xerox Europe (XRCE); University Hospital Frankfurt (Zinfo).

In the context of MUCHMORE, we are looking for a

(senior) researcher

with at least 2 years of experience in machine learning for NLP, more
specifically in the application of classification and clustering methods
in combination with linguistic methods in areas like word sense
disambiguation, relation extraction, information extraction, document
classification, etc.

DFKI offers competitive salaries, excellent computational facilities,
and the opportunity to work in an expanding team that combines
leading-edge research in language technology with the development of
innovative applications.

DFKI is located on the campus of Saarbrücken University, which has
internationally recognized departments in computational linguistics and
computer science.

Please refer to our web pages http://www.dfki.de/lt/ for more
information.

The position will become available from January 1st, 2000 onwards for a
2 year period, with the possibility of extension.
